Universal Music Canada Signs vivacious Girl Group GIRLICIOUS

Sophomore album scheduled for March release

TORONTO, ON – Friday December 18, 2009 – Universal Music Canada (UMC), the country’s leading music company is pleased to announce the direct signing of dynamic girl group, Girlicious. Girlicious’ sophomore album is set for release March 2010. The deal was announced today by Randy Lennox, President and CEO, Universal Music Canada.

Girlicious’ first single “Over You” will be serviced to Canadian radio today (December 18 at 1:00 pm EST) and will be available digitally at iTunes® on January 5, 2010.

“Girlicious have had tremendous successes in Canada and we’re delighted to welcome them as part of the UMC’s domestic roster,” said Jeremy Summers, Vice President, Marketing/Promotions, Universal Music Canada. “We worked very closely with the girls over the past few years and we look forward to further developing their vibrant Girlicious brand in Canada and on international fronts. Their direct signing to Universal Music Canada is a natural fit.”

Girlicious made a name for themselves with a hit reality TV series Pussycat Dolls Presents: Girlicious on MuchMusic and have garnered millions of YouTube views. They sold over 60,000 copies of their self-titled debut album in Canada, and their smash hit singles “Like Me” and “Stupid S***” are certified gold. Girlicious took home an MMVA award in 2009 for Muchmusic.com’s most watched video of the year for “Like Me”. Currently, the girl group is putting the finishing touches on their sophomore album. Girlicious are: Nichole Cordova, Natalie Mejia, and Chrystina Sayers.
